Zumba Creator and fitness trainer, "Beto" Perez, stumbled upon the concept of Latin inspired fitness dance in his native Cali, Colombia in
the 90s.
Walking into his aerobics class he realized that the aerobics music was missing! Fortunately grabbed whatever tapes he had in his backpack and
created a song-list of traditional Latin salsa and merengue music he listened to all his life.
But it was a challenge to improvise a whole class on the traditional Latin salsa and merengue music. Beto’s revolutionary new concept in
fitness was born from a flash of inspiration.
